This is a bracelet of paper beads made with a map of Sicily drawn by the twelfth-century Arab geographer, Al-Idrisi. Al-Idrisi lived at the Norman court in Palermo, under the protection of King Roger II. He wrote The Book of Pleasant Journeys into Faraway Lands (i.e., The Book of Roger), nine volumes collecting all the geographic knowledge of that period. Item #GIB1
